Water, the elixir of health

Why is clean water necessary for proper hydration?

Water is the foundation of our body and the main source of daily energy. It is used not only to quench thirst, but also in all vital processes of the body. Therefore, the more we understand the importance of water, the more we try to understand its health benefits and the question arises: are we drinking the kind of water that our body needs to function properly?

Why is water irreplaceable?

  • Water makes up approximately 60 - 70% of our body;
  • Participates in cell cleansing and detoxification;
  • Ensures proper functioning of the brain, muscles and digestive system;
  • Regulates body temperature;
  • It improves the quality of skin and hair and helps internal organs function optimally.

For example: even mild dehydration (lack of water) reduces concentration, impairs brain function, and reduces energy. Proper hydration improves sleep, digestion, and the immune system. But is the water we drink always clean? It is not enough that the water is “clear,” “clean to the eye,” or “tasty.”

💧 Tap water contains:

Chlorine - Used for disinfection, but it also destroys essential cells in the body. Chlorine can cause skin irritation, acne, eye and respiratory problems, dry hair, allergic reactions, and increase the risk of certain types of cancer.

Heavy metals (lead, iron, manganese) - It accumulates in the body for a long time and causes damage to the nervous system, kidney and liver problems, weakened immunity, growth and development delays in children, and with prolonged exposure, the risk of chronic and oncological diseases.

Organic compounds - cause gastrointestinal problems, allergic skin reactions, nervous system disorders and hormonal imbalances. It is especially dangerous when organic compounds in water react with chlorine , forming chloramines and trihalomethanes (THMs, known as potent carcinogens). Trihalomethanes are the most dangerous side effect of chlorinated water, they are directly linked to oncological diseases and other serious health problems.

Biological contamination (bacteria, viruses, parasites) - causes infectious diseases, acute gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, poisoning and in some cases severe epidemics. Parasites such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium are particularly resistant to chlorine and in most cases remain in water after disinfection.

Mechanical impurities (sand, sediment, dust) - give water a cloudy color and unpleasant taste, damage household appliances, cause clogging of pipes and a drop in water pressure. Generally less dangerous to health, sometimes causing irritation of the gastrointestinal tract.

Therefore, we can say that proper hydration is not just about the amount of water - it starts with clean, safe water. If drinking water contains microbes and chemical impurities, hydration does not provide the benefits we expect: the risk of disorders of the gastrointestinal, nervous and reproductive systems, as well as chronic and oncological diseases, increases. Safe water for health is a necessary prerequisite according to the World Health Organization, because contaminated water is directly linked to infectious diseases. When treated with chlorine, organic compounds present in water form dangerous compounds (e.g., trihalomethanes ), which in many studies are associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer in particular; At the same time, “standard” doses of chlorine do not completely remove some parasites (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), which is why physical removal/additional methods are necessary.

Clean and filtered water means true hydration - energy, cognitive clarity, and the smooth functioning of the body as a unified system.
